Our Story

Fairchild & Flatt was founded as an LLC in 2013.

Wm. Jason Flatt is a licensed Professional Engineer, an educator, and a Historic Preservation Generalist whose credentials meet the Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualification Standards for Architectural History.  He has earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering (1998) as well as a Master of Science degree in Ocean Technology (1999), both from Webb Institute of Naval Architecture.  Jason also earned an MBA from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh (2011) and a Master of Arts degree in Historic Preservation from Goucher College (2014).

Jason moved to Marinette, Wisconsin, in 1999.  He served twelve-and-a-half years at Marinette Marine Corporation, a shipyard, variously performing the duties of Lead Naval Architect, Senior Naval Architect, Chief Naval Architect, Launchmaster, and Dockmaster.  He resigned his position at the shipyard in 2011 in order to better serve the needs of his family, including two young sons (born 2007 & 2010), and to pursue his education in historic preservation.  Jason founded Fairchild & Flatt to provide leadership and services in support of this region’s rich historic resources.
